In a world overrun by the living dead, every
victim has a story. These are some of those stories. This collection of six
short stories from a world ravaged by the LZR-1143 virus tell the tale of six
different people, all of whom fell victim, in different ways, to the deadly
plague.
From the pilot of a commercial aircraft, overwhelmed in midair, to the lonely soldier stranded high above a world of the undead, the six characters each face their own fears and mortality in different ways.
This 20,000 word short-story collection features a unique selection of characters from the original zombie novel by Bryan James, LZR-1143: Infection, and from the recently released sequel, LZR-1143: Evolution. Each character appears only fleetingly in the longer novels, but each has their own unique thread in the LZR-1143 storyline, all of which are exposed in these short excerpts from their final hours alive.

A horrifying account of torture and
humiliation at the hands of her family, My Firefly will pull you into its pages
and grab hold of your spirit. Seen from the perspective of the family home,
this young girl struggles to stay alive as she is slowly ripped apart
emotionally, physically and sexually by her father. You’ll experience an
abundance of feelings throughout this book and won’t be able to put it down. My
Firefly is a flicker of light in complete darkness, leading to safety. It is
cruel and brutish and bloody. But, if you want inspiration, then read My
Firefly. It will change your world.
Now residing in Northern Ontario, Kirton hopes that this book will help other fireflies heal and that they too will find that ‘just surviving’ isn’t always enough: “Living is what’s supposed to happen after you survive. It’s life in ‘post-survival’ that defines the human character’s ability to move forward from trauma.”

Westerbrook Chesterfield is an embittered
supernatural being expelled from Witchitah, the homeland of magical beings. He
now resides in Buzzards Bay, Arizona, which magical beings call
"Plain-Jane World." That’s the least of Westerbrook’s punishments for
raising an army and attempting to overthrow the ruler of all magic; he has also
been stripped of his magical powers and crippled. After living among
"fleshlings" for two decades, Westerbrook is granted the opportunity
to redeem himself, regain his magical power, and earn passage back to
Witchitah.
Knolly Agawam is a former witch of black magic who has also expelled from Witchitah and must earn her way back. She’s the former queen of all demons. One demon in particular, her brother, doesn’t want her back in power because he’s taken over the demon town of Goth in her absence. Stripped of her magical powers, Knolly has little chance of staving off attacks from her brother and his minions on her own, so she accepts The Absolute's deal to earn passage back to Witchitah, along with her magical powers, by spending a week participating in a series of good deeds toward fleshlings.
The deal Westerbrook and Knolly strike with The Absolute isn’t without peril; demons pop up everywhere to thwart them, the fleshlings they are assigned to help aren’t always cooperative, and the two former residents of Witchitah must avoid breaking the rules set forth by The Absolute, namely, that they can’t kill or reveal magic to the fleshlings. The punishment for both is death. Now these two adversaries have seven days to find a way to work together. If they fail, at the end of the seven days they will be trapped in their mortal forms until they die.
